Upper Half of a Hippo Goddess Presenting a Sa-sign
Late Period or later
Although the figurine suffered significant damage, this example is carefully carved in a rare hardstone and the surviving details allow easy identification of this goddess, one whose role is to protect people. The figurine’s characteristics are typical of late Pharaonic hippo goddesses and the best known of these is Taweret.
