This volume contains a portraits of contemporary British notables including the Duke of Wellington, Sir Robert Peel, Lord Melbourne, William Wilberforce and the heir to the throne, Princess Victoria at the age of fourteen (she became queen the year that this book was published). John Cochran's engraved image of the latter reproduces a painting by George Hayter in the Royal Collection titled "Portrait of Princess Victoria of Kent with her Spaniel Dash," exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1833.
