Although influenced by the elemental forms of Minimalism, Tuttle’s work tends to be smaller in size and more organic in form than the monumental, hard-edged pieces characteristic of that movement. Tuttle’s interest in dematerialization and the ephemeral quality of materials is demonstrated in this handmade paper project, which whimsically explores the duality of translucency and opacity, and order and chance. The hand-painted frames, designed by the artist, are an integral part of the work as a whole.
