Gentleman's formal attire, one of 34 Costume designs for N. Evreinoff's play 'The Chief Thing', produced at the Theater Guild, New York City, 1926. The costume is made up of a black redingote and wide, striped, black and white trousers, worn with a top hat, black cravat over a white shirt, and black and white Oxford (?) shoes. A black cape or coat hangs from his right arm, whose hand rests on his right him; his left hand, dressed with a white glove, holds a black cane.
