Not on view

This monument has a square base supporting a portrait of Washington and allegorical statues representing the continents at the corners between flights of steps. Above there is a circular temple with thirteen columns supporting a globe with a statue of Washington at the appex. The design is set within a park and a church spire appears in the distance at right. Presumably this is a proposed alternate plan for the national monument to George Washington built in Washington DC 1848-56, and 1876-84.
