Standing Virgin and Child
Wearing a crown, Mary originally held the infant Jesus, now missing. The worn surface suggests that this private devotional image was caressed and kissed. The graceful sway, tall proportions, and elegant folds relate the figure to monumental sculpture produced in northern France.
