Plaque Inscribed with the Name of King Thutmose III

New Kingdom

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 118

On one side, this oval stamp seal is inscribed with a scene depicting the king as a striding sphinx trampling an enemy. The throne name of Thutmose III, Menkheperre, is in the cartouche at the right.

The other side is decorated with a sistrum, the emblem of the goddess Hathor. The name Menkheperre appears again on this side.
