Paddle Doll Without Hair

Middle Kingdom–Early New Kingdom

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 109

This "paddle doll" has a keyhole shaped torso, a rudimentary head, and relatively long arms. Its body is covered with a geometrically patterned garment that reaches to just above a large pubic triangle. There are four bracelets painted on each arm, and what may be a necklace around the neck.
