End of bow

Middle Kingdom–Early New Kingdom

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 109

The cord here was found attached to this fragment from the end of a bow. There was no notch in the bow for stringing, so a loop was made in the end of the cord, which was then wrapped around the bow several times and secured with half hitches.
