Strainer fragments
Third Intermediate Period
Not on view
These silver fragments are part of the "Tell Basta Treasure," found in 1906 at the site of Tell Basta. These particular objects are likely fragments from a shallow strainer that may have been used in a drinking service. (see 30.8.369 for a complete example). Ancient Egyptians would have used such strainers to filter out sediment from wine.
