Plate 1 of a series of designs for mantelpieces. This plate shows two designs by prompting the viewer to use his imagination for the symmetrical part. The left side for instance has a frame decorated with small flowers while the right side has a smooth frame. At the top of this frame is suspended a wreath within which is the title.
