Plate 13 of a series of designs for doors and mantel pieces. This design presents a mantel piece. The fireplace has the form of a three-centered arch. Over it is a band of stiff-leaf decoration, topped by acanthus leaves and the bust of a female. There are garlands from the bust to the arch above. The spandrels above are decorated with vegetation. On either side are doric pilasters in front of which are two statues of women, on plinths. The one on the left has a blindfold and is holding a sword, the one on the right is holding an olive branch. Over all that is a frieze of triglyphs and metopes of alternating bucranes and rosettes. The attic is decorated with a circular medallion with a monogram, garlands and palm branches.
