In this print, a bearded friar (or monk) wearing a brown hooded/cowled robe (shown in half-length) smiles as he holds up a straw-covered flask in his right hand and a half-filled glass of red wine in his left hand. In the upper right portion of the smokey toned background there is an inscription (possibly by N. Currier or his contemporary) in brown ink: "S N Smith/50 Maiden/Lane" and a further brown ink inscription is written to the left of the imprinted title (center of the bottom margin). The image is outlined by a ruled border.
