Most important work of Italian satirist, Trajano Boccalini (1556-1613), of 17th Century Italy. Under the allegorical guise of Apollo’s realm, Bocalini was able to satirize contemporary society, politics and literature gaining widespread appeal in Baroque Europe.

Contemporary Dark green morocco binding by Simier with arms of Duchesse de Barry (1798-1870). Egg-and-dart embossed outer border on front and back covers.
