Poster for the first New York Film Festival which took place at The Samuel B. & David Rose Building, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. The composition consists of a free-hand drawing with a schematic sketch of an old camera and a large spot light on the left side. They are both directed towards a female actress, depicted on the right side of the poster. The text is distributed in three blocks across the poster. At top left: ‘N.ew Y.ork FIRST FILM FESTIVAL’. On the right side, just over the center of the sheet: ‘ SEPT / 10-19’ and a signature of the artist ‘Rivers’. At bottom in the center: ‘LINCOLN CENTER / EVENINGS / MUSEUM OF MODERN ART / AFTERNOONS’.
