Not on view

Rectangular sheet of paper with a textile design from a group, dated 1840, made in Mulhouse, Alsace, which was an important nineteenth-century center for textile production in the Haut-Rhin region of France. The design is made up out of alternating stylized half-flowers with five petals and three leaves of light tan color over a dark reddish-brown base. The pistils of the half-flowers are colored in black and have a white pearl in the center. The leaves have shades stippled in a dark reddish-brown color.
