Rectangular sheet of paper with a textile design from a group, dated 1840, made in Mulhouse, Alsace which was an important nineteenth-century center for textile production in the Haut-Rhin region of France. The design is made up of undulating horizontal strips of small rosettes, framed by undulating horizontal ribbon strips, over a dark reddish-brown ground with light tan stipples. The rosettes are of white color and bordered in black; the undulating bands are of light tan color and bordered in dark red.
