Rectangular sheet of paper with a textile design from a group, dated 1840, made in Mulhouse, Alsace, which was an important nineteenth-century center for textile production in the Haut-Rhin region of France. The design is made up of alternating vertical rows of bundles of six large stylized leaves and four stylized branches with leaves colored with green, and four paisley motifs decorated with rosettes and stylized leaves of red, black and white color, over a ground of burgundy color. The paisley motifs are colored: two with red, one with light tan, and one with black.
