June Havoc and Milton Berle, American Actors

Not on view

Before becoming a noted Abstract Expressionist painter, Reinhardt was a journalist. He made this collage as an illustration for the left-leaning daily tabloid PM Magazine (1940–48) by combining a cutout of a photograph by Engel with his own fanciful drawing of a sunny day at the beach. The whimsical seaside backdrop seems to emerge from the dreams of snoozing vaudeville and radio stars Milton Berle and June Havoc.
