Avril 2015, 25

Not on view
The selection of prints on view here belong to Avril 2015, 25, a portfolio that explores the repetition of basic geometric forms, which are freely drawn and hence slightly irregular. A spare vocabulary of distinct yet related dashes (or "peas"), lines, and circles, organized in a modified grid and rendered in a yellow-white tone against black paper, creates a sense of rhythmic movement between individual marks and the composition as a whole. The work evokes a musical score, note keeping, and other kinds of mark making that operate both against and in tandem with the structure of an existing system. The drawing placed in the lower right is unique to each set and, perhaps in a nod to Gilles Deleuze’s 1968 book Difference and Repetition, functions in contrast to the editioned prints.
