Not on view
Matsui Kōsei had a major role in reviving the marbleized colored-clay technique (neriage) and became designated a Living National Treasure in 1993. He studied ancient Chinese examples of the ware as a priest in Ibaraki Prefecture. Matsui created modern geometric surfaces with the application of this complex technique.
