Tiger (Leopard) on Display

1860, seventh month
Not on view
The print refers to the big cat as a “tiger,” but the animal displayed in West Ryōgoku in 1860 was actually a leopard. A similar version of this composition is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (acc. no. 11.37318).
