20th plate of album with 60 19th-century costume plates and 1 drawing of mostly women's historical costumes, featuring a variety of designs for traditional costumes from different parts of the world, as well as costumes for literary characters, including Esmeralda. This plate consists of a woman wearing a Scandinavian costume made up of a dark-gray jacket with puffy cream sleeves over a white shirt with ruffled collar and lace sleeves, and a red skirt with dark gray border, and a cream apron with red and dark-gray patterns with lozenges, dots, stripes, and golden, semi-abstract flower embroideries. The borders of the jacket sleeves and the belt are red and contain strips of small, golden lozenges. Her hair is tied back and she wears a golden hat with semi-abstract green and red scrolling motifs. She wears white stockings and low-heeled gray shoes with bows.
