The Architect

Georges Reverdy French

Not on view

Geometry is captured in the process of inscribing a five-pointed star within a circle. Behind her sit classical ruins, while the fruits of her imagination appear on the left. Reverdy conveys the integral role of drawing and graphic measurement in the production of architecture. The reflexivity of depicting the process of creation is a common trope in European prints with mathematical themes from this period.
