Page of book containing 185 leaves with a collection of lithographs, aquatints, engravings, and other media, with ornamental designs published by Fleury Chavant in Paris, part of the publication "Guide du Dessinateur de l'industrie: une macédoine de dessins variés , tels que fleurs, ornemens, etc. ... Ouvrage destiné aux fabricants et dessinateurs de soieries... et Papiers Peints..." This plate contains nine textile designs with semi-abstract patterns and stylized flowers and leaves. The first is made up of vertical stripes, filled alternatingly with zig-zagging lines and strips of dashes, separated by pairs of undulating, vertical lines. The second is made up of horizontal, undulating garlands rendered with groups of vertical lines, on a clear ground with small rosettes and pearls. The third is made up of semi-abstract scrolling motifs on a clear ground with short, undulating lines. The fourth design is made up of stylized, exotic flowers and stylized leaves, both rendered with thin lines, over a semi-abstract honeycomb pattern. The fifth design is made up of semi-abstract interlacing branches and thin bundles of stylized flowers and leaves. The sixth design is made up of interlacing branches with stylized leaves. The seventh design is made up of thin, interlacing branches with stylized flowers, leaves, and bundles of semi-abstract fruits or flowers. The eighth design is made up of scrolling branches with leaves and ornamental frames of different types, all outlined with thin, black lines on a thin ground. The final design is made up of thin, undulating branches with stylized flowers and leaves on a clear ground with thin scrolling motifs. These designs would have likely been used for wallpapers or printed textiles for garments and furniture.
