Twelfth plate of portfolio with a collection of twenty pochoir pattern plates, titled "Insectes: vingt planches en phototypie coloriées au patron donnant quatre-vingts insectes et seize compositions décoratives" (Insects: twenty plates with colored phototypes with patterns with eighty insects and sixteen decorative compositions), created by Émile-Allain Séguy and published in Paris by Duchartre & Van Buggenhoudt in 1929. The plate features five naturalistic illustrations of a dung beetle from Nubia, and other beetles from Senegal, Guinea, Madagascar, and Venezuela, executed with shades of bluish-green and brown, gray, and black. The depictions of insects in the illustration are remarkably detailed, revealing Séguy's unique interest in their scientific study as a source of inspiration for artistic creation. This illustration was likely meant to inspire designs for textiles and wallpapers.
