Floréal, Pl. 20

Twentieth plate of album with 20 pochoir pattern plates, titled "Floréal: Dessins & Coloris Nouveaux" (Floreal: New Designs and Colors), created by Emile-Allain Séguy and published in Paris by A. Calavas in 1925 or earlier. The plate contains five ornamental designs, possibly for textiles or wallpapers, with lively, semi-abstract motifs inspired from nature. The first design is made up of a horizontal garland with semi-abstract roses, colored with purple and orange, and leaves, colored with dark green, on a green ground. The second design is made up of vertical strips of semi-abstract leaves, colored with cream and shades of blue, and clusters of semi-abstract fruits, colored with purple, on a cream ground with stipples made with two shades of orange. The third design is made up of bundles of semi-abstract flowers, rendered with alternating dark green lines and intermittent black lines, flanked by two thin, scrolling leaves, colored with dark purple and white, on a bright purple background with an abstract pattern. The fourth design is made up of bundles of semi-abstract acorns (?), colored with purple, yellow, orange, and black, and semi-abstract leaves, colored with bluish-green, and smaller semi-abstract acorns, colored with yellow and purple, on a white ground. The fourth design consists of a checked pattern made up of alternating rectangles with Greek scrolls, colored with aquamarine and blue, and clusters of berries, colored with black and outlined with shades of purple, on a white ground.
