Three Hundred Years

Arlene Shechet American

Not on view

Three Hundred Years is a notable example of Shechet’s use of original factory molds from the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory (established in 1710) in her Meissen Recast series (2012–13). During a six-month residency in Meissen, Germany, the artist created plaster reproductions of the historic factory molds. This finished work is a hybrid or three-dimensional collage comprised of found motifs associated with eighteenth-century European decorative art.
