Sir Muirhead Bone British, Scottish

Not on view

Sir Muirhead Bone was a Scottish printmaker and watercolor artist noted for his depictions of architectural subjects, city views, landscapes, and his work as a war artist in both the First and Second World Wars. This city view of Leeds, England, features a Gothic-style church (Leeds Minster) in the background, as seen from a street lined with attached houses in a densely populated neighborhood. Bone began the print in 1908, but later made alterations before publishing an edition of it in 1921.
