Engraving, part of a series of six oval plates with ornament designs with grotesque motifs and divinities, designed by Étienne Delaune before 1559. This print represents Diana, standing on a canopy in the center of the oval, with her head turned to the left. She is represented in accordance with traditional iconography: raising a crescent moon with her right hand, another crescent moon crowning her head, holding a spear on her left hand, and two latched leaping dogs by her sides. Other motifs around the goddess include two grotesque snails, a butterfly, two cornucopias, two fuming vases, and another vase framed by two crowns. Many of these motifs are found in the other prints of the series.
