Bowl

New Kingdom

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 116

This small red ware dish was used as a lid for a pitcher that was found in the tomb of an unnamed woman. The dish was placed up-side-down over the mouth of the jar and its edges were trimmed to correspond to the lip of the jar.
