Engraving, part of 'Omnium pene Europae, Asiae, Aphricae atque Americae Gentium Habitus' (Costumes of the various nations of Europe, Asia, Africa and America), a series of prints representing figures from various parts of the world, engraved by Abraham de Bruyn and published by Joos de Bosscher in 1580.

This engraving represents Selimus, Emperor of the Turks, the wife of an illustrious Turkish man, a Turkish woman in Syrian dress, and an illustrious Persian man. On the left, the Turkish Emperor wears a fur-lined overcoat with a brocaded (?) pattern of stylized leaves, with short sleeves with a pattern of lozenges and pearls, trimmed with stones and pearls, over a long robe with a pattern of lozenged and pearls, with jeweled rosettes on the border, and with a fringed belt around the waist. He wears a double chain necklace on his chest and a round turban with a large feather. His mustache is long, and his beard short. He holds a scepter on the right hand and the handle of his sword, which hangs on his left hip, with his left hand. The points of his shoes peek from the bottom of his robe.

The wife of a Turkish man wears a short-sleeved dress with a brocaded pattern of stylized leaves, with pearls and stones on the neckline, over a long-sleeved dress with jeweled cuffs and a skirt with a pattern of lozenges and pearls and horizontal stripes with pearls. A striped belt with fringed edges is tied around her waist. She wears a jeweled crown on her head, which holds a scarf that falls over her shoulders and behind her back. She wears a pearl necklace with a large pendant, with a teardrop pearl hanging from it. On her left hand she holds a feather fan, and on her feet she wears low-heeled, pointed-toe boots.

The Turkish woman in Syrian dress wears an overcoat with wide, three-quarter sleeves, made with a brocade of stylized leaves, lined with thin, diagonal stripes. On her hair she wears a jeweled cap over a long shawl, which is around her head and fastened under her chin, and falls over her shoulders and behind her back. She wears low-heeled, pointed-toe boots on her feet.

The Persian man, on the right, wears an ankle-length robe with short cap sleeves, made with a brocade of stylized leaves, over a long-sleeved, knee-length robe with a pattern of lozenges and pearls, and wide-legged trousers, tied with a fringed-edged belt around the waist. He wears a turban with a large, scrolling feather, and a chain necklace. He carries a sword on his left hip, and wears flat, pointed-toe boots on his feet.
