Engraving, part of 'Omnium pene Europae, Asiae, Aphricae atque Americae Gentium Habitus' (Costumes of the various nations of Europe, Asia, Africa and America), a series of prints representing figures from various parts of the world, engraved by Abraham de Bruyn and published by Joos de Bosscher in 1580.

This engraving represents ten different types of military men and athletes from Turkey, in two horizontal rows. On the first row, on the left, a centurion wears an overcoat with hanging sleeves, with a pattern of lozenges and pearls, over a long-sleeved, long robe with a brocade of stylized leaves, and a pointed hat with a large bundle of feathers, holding a halberd on his left hand. A Constantinopolitan agent wears a short-sleeved overcoat over a long-sleeved robe with a pattern of scrolling leaves, a fringed belt around the waist and a tall hat with a large bundle of feathers, pointed-toe boots, and holding a staff on the left hand. A soldier wears a fur-lined, short-sleeved overcoat over an ankle-length robe with long puff sleeves and stripes, tall boots, and a headdress with two large wings, and holding a halberd on one hand. An archer wears a sleeveless overcoat with a pattern of lozenges and pearls, over a calf-length robe with long puff sleeves and horizontal stripes of patterns of lozenges, boots, a tall hat with a large bundle of feathers, and carrying a bow on his left shoulder, a quiver of arrows on the right hip, and a sword on the left hip. A light mounted soldier ('ferentarij') wears a short-sleeved overcoat over a striped robe and tight pants, a tall hat with long, scrolling feathers, and carrying a rifle on his shoulder. On the right, a prefect wears an ankle-length robe with a striped fabric belt around the waist, a hat with multiple pointed flaps and a bundle of feathers on the front, a sword hanging from the left hip, and holding a flaming torch on the right hand.

On the second row, on the left, a foot soldier wears a brocaded overcoat with a pattern of stylized leaves and short cap sleeves over a long-sleeved robe and trousers, a hat with feathers on the head, and holding a halberd on the left hand and a handkerchief on the right. Two athletes or wrestlers, fighting, wear tight, knee-length trousers and short hair. Following them, three wrestlers illustrate the different kinds of clothing worn by the type: tight, knee-length trousers for fighting, with the addition of a shawl when cooling down, and a belted robe with hat to be worn at other times. Finally, on the right, a Turkish custodian wears a long-sleeved robe with belt and an overcoat with hanging, pointed sleeves, a hat with feather on the back, low-heeled boots, and holding a halberd on his right hand.
