Plate 82 of 'A New Book of Chinese Designs', consisting of a title page, index, and 120 plates, etched and published in 1754 by the British caricaturist, printseller and ornamental engraver Matthew Darly, in collaboration with George Edwards. The book consists of a variety of ornamental and costume designs of Chinese inspiration, some of them copies of the original works (including the title).
This plate represents a landscape with a man fishing with nets. On the center of the composition, two intersecting trunks with bunches of leaves stand on a piece of land, and a large tree, incluned towards the left, provides shadow to a fisherman on a canoe, who holds a fishing net in his hands. On the right side, behind a small fence, is another man, looking towards the water. Thin clouds are on the upper part of the composition.
