Winter farm scene featuring a barn and farm animals. Barn at left with open door permitting a glimpse of two men and a dog inside; one man carries a pitchfork full of hay towards a horse in its stable.Two cows (one black, one brown) stand outside facing the barn door; in a shed (center) attached to the barn, another cow and sheep are visible. A haystack is at far left; another cow (seen from behind) nibbles at the hay, while chickens perch on a nearby fence. A wooden trough stands in the center of the yard. Black birds are atop the barn roof where the snow has melted. At the lower right, the hind quarters of a standing cow is shown near four ducks (lower center). Mountain vista is in the right distance, beyond a haystack, a partial view of the farm house and fields.
