Sea of Japan Pillow Pitcher

Betty Woodman American

Not on view

This bold pillow pitcher—an exceptional example of one of Woodman’s signature forms—afforded the artist a canvas on which to showcase her arresting glazes. Referencing ancient ceramic traditions, she employed a saturated turquoise punctuated by splashes of polychrome on the shoulder, spout, and handle.
