Ancestral Puebloan (Cibola)

Not on view

Diverse civilizations known collectively as Ancestral Puebloan flourished in the Southwest states of Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico in the centuries before the arrival of Europeans. This Cibola White ware pitcher was slip painted with a striking geometric design with large swirls on the body of the vessel, in a style sometimes called Tularosa Black-on-White.
