Corps de Ballet

Cyril E. Power British

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 690

Seven intertwined bodies form a visual symphony of line and color—thus capturing the magic that is the synchronized movement of an ensemble of dancers. Power was an exponent of the Grosvenor School, an art movement (named after a London art school) that sought a modernist aesthetic that would reflect the energy and dynamism of the machine age, whether depicting trains and escalators or the natural movements of athletes and performers.
