This series or cartouche designs consists of a title page and eleven plates with cartouches meant for the education of young artists. It represents a collaboration between Pio Panfili and Cavina, who were both affiliated with the Accademia Clementina di Bologna. The Museum owns the preparatory drawings for two out of the ten cartouches designed by Cavina. The eleventh was made by Panfili's tutor Carlo Bianconi, whose design might have formed the inspiration for the other cartouches in the series. The prints are preserved in their original blue paper wrapper, and this series thus forms a good example of how prints were sold during the second half of the eighteenth century.
