As a velvety pelt comes naturally to the animal kingdom in fall, readying the animals for winter, so velvets just as instinctively re-enter the human wardrobe each fall, coming back in the earth- and leaf-tones of each preceding and very successive autumn. Lanvin's soigné brown suit is a ribbed velvet, suggesting likeness to corduroy, another fall camouflage.
