Evening cape

Fortuny's artist-father created with access to an aficionado's collection of diverse historicist and exotic objects. He collected North-African textiles and costume and used them as studio props. The younger Fortuny continued the life of such objects in what he characterized as his inventions, a science applied to dress. This evening wrap is almost literally a berber cape, except for the specific textile (silk velvet) and embellishments (metallic stenciling) typical of Fortuny.
