Designer Helmut Lang Austrian

Not on view

Helmut Lang's vision is one of utmost modernity and is marked by a willingness to adapt elegant clothing to exaggerated urban savvy. Though the Austrian designer often uses synthetic fabrics to execute simple lines, he also frequently incorporates luxurious cloth into a rather mass-produced, androgynous cut.

This piece makes use of a high-quality beige leather, but the design clearly takes its cue from street styles with its baggy fit and zip-out hood. The piece is an important representation of Helmut Lang, as it effortlessly melds the urban anti-style of the millennium period with the luxury of a fine leather.
