Queer power! : a time travelling coloring book
Author Chitra Ganesh American
Not on view
Imagery largely derived from the artist's installation, "A city will share her secrets if you know how to ask," the fourth iteration of the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art's annual public art commission of QUEERPOWER. Ganesh's imagery explores the relationship between the New York City and its inhabitants, and particularly the disproportionate affect of gentrification on queer and trans people, people of color, and other underrepresented communities. Ganesh's work encompasses the historical span of the early African American community Seneca Village, bordering the future Central Park, to the each of the 36 trans individuals murdered in 2020 -- Summarized from Lerner's essay.
