"Signed Louis Rhead Art Nouveau binding design in gold on smooth red cloth with the titles in calligraphic script within a central panel with an angel on either side with their wings open; one angel is playing the trumpet on the left, and the other on the right plays the organ. Floral decorative motifs above and below. Gold spine titles in calligraphic script with a floral border at the head and tail of the spine. Engraved title page signed by Louis Rhead with a central panel of children in classical dress playing music; the panel is surrounded by a border of lilies clearly inspired by Morris. The titles are in red and black. Printed on heavy laid deckle edge paper; top edge gilt A brief history of ecclesiastical music, with a goal of promoting a more informed selection of music for church services. A near fine copy of an exceptionally scarce Rhead binding design with light rubbing to the extremities and the contemporary library plate of A. N. Haggerty on the front pastedown.
