A bi-fold binding lined in pink silk, beaded to resemble a decorated binding with brown "leather" spine with six bands, and floral wreath motifs on both covers. Needleworked needle cases that look like real books embellished with embroidery, ribbons and beads are common to the early 19th century. Their designs were spread through friends and relatives, and published in popular women's illustrated magazines, such as Godey's Lady's Book, an American magazine published in Philadelphia from 1830 to 1878
