Tomb Slab of Maurice de Poissy

Not on view

This is part of the funerary slab of Maurice of Poissy, a priest who held several important positions in England and France. The stone has been reused multiple times; by 1648 it had been cut down to become part of an altar and it was later built into a farmhouse wall. The expertly drawn rose window exemplifies the Gothic style, often called opus francigenum or "French work" in medieval texts.
