Ridgewing Guitar, Serial No. 4

2015
On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 199
On loan to The Met
This work of art is currently on loan to the museum.
Originally patterned after the wing of a dragonfly, the Ridgewing guitar’s delicate carbon-fiber tracery conjures up networks of veins, arteries, and capillaries. The instrument’s special lighting effects can be programmed to pulse like a beating heart, blurring the boundaries between instrument and body, sight and sound.
