«The Metropolitan Museum of Art is expanding into a new space on Madison Avenue and 75th Street! The Met Breuer, designed by architect Marcel Breuer [BROY-er], is a work of art itself, with lots of interesting details to discover. Explore the building and exhibitions, talk with educators and artists, make art, and enjoy music at our opening weekend Family Day

At The Met Breuer, you'll be able to check out even more art made in the 20th and 21st centuries. When you enter, follow the sound of music to the Lobby Gallery. Vijay Iyer is the Museum's Resident Artist until March 31, which means that he and other musicians will be there during all the hours that the Museum is open. If you visit more than once, you could see and hear something new each time!

Resident Artist Vijay Iyer discusses Relation: A Performance Residency, a series of performances at The Met Breuer that will highlight the artist's full body of work.

Explore the idea of when a work of art is finished in the exhibition Unfinished: Thoughts Left Visible. How can we tell? How do you decide when something you've made is complete?

In the exhibition Nasreen Mohamedi, look for the many lines, grids, and shapes the artist used to create her mesmerizing images. You can stop by the activity Drawing Space on the ground floor to experiment with your own line drawings.

Then, be sure to check out the activity Drawing Sound on the fifth floor to create your own soundscape related to the works of art on view and explore the connection between music and visual art. Before you leave, pop into the #MetKids photo booth for a fun keepsake of your visit.
