Imperial Cornflowers
On loan to The Met
This work of art is currently on loan to the museum.This floral composition, said to have come from the imperial apartments, is thought to have been in the personal collection of Czarina Alexandra Feodorovna. The eight cornflowers stand in an Art Nouveau vase made by the Imperial Glass Manufactory, an unusual choice for Fabergé, which demonstrates his attention to and awareness of contemporary art.
