Design for two brooches with ribbons, diamonds, pearls, and colored stones

Drawing with two designs for brooches, part of an album of drawings in pen and ink of designs for jewelry in the style of the French School of the 19th century, designed for the French jewelry house Mellerio-Borgnis. The first design consists of a large, square-cut green stone, flanked above and below by two round pearls, and surrounded by small, square-cut brilliants or diamonds, and flanked to the sides by two stylized fleur-de-lis motifs, each with a round, white pearl in the center. These motifs are placed on a round frame holding the central stone, which is adorned by a ribbon bow motif with brilliants and diamonds, and a round, white pearl in the center, whose ends scroll around the upper half of the frame. The lower part of the frame contains two thin scrolling motifs formed around a round, white pearl, with three smaller, round, white pearls forming under the lower intersection of the scrolls. From them hang two large, emerald-cut, white brilliants or diamonds, flanked by four round, white pearls, to the sides, from which hang scrolling strips of metal holding a large, teardrop-shaped green stone. The green stones would have likely been emeralds or colored glass.

The second design is made up of two metallic rosettes, each with a blue stone in the center and a couple round, white pearls, held together by ribbon scrolling motifs formed above them, and with four hanging strips of round, white pearls and a teardrop shaped motif in the lower ends. The two designs are executed in different sheets of paper, both adhered to the same page of the album.
